Call Of Duty fans hail 'All Ghillied Up' as best COD mission ever

Call of Duty fans hail 'All Ghillied' up from Modern Warfare as the best COD mission ever.

When a video game series has existed for the best part of two decades, there are going to be a lot of memorable moments, some better than others.

One such series is Call Duty which was originally released way back in 2003 for PC, before becoming multi-platform, which would soon evolve into one of the most popular and commercially successful video game properties of all time.

So with over 20 games across multiple platforms, including mobile, how do you pick the best moment from the Call of Duty franchise? To be honest, the discussion would be long, but one mission that stands out in particular for fans is ‘All Ghillied Up’, the 13th mission in 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

The name “All Ghillied Up’ was inspired by the ghillie suits that characters Lieutenant John Price and Captain MacMillan wore during the mission. Set in Ukraine in 1996, this Call of Duty mission was as intense as they come.

Players had to sneak through enemy lines aided by long grass, abandoned buildings and stealth camo, with the enemy on high alert. There was one moment in particular that required the player to remain motionless to avoid detection from a large convoy of soldiers. One false move and all hell would reign down upon you in what can be considered one of the best stealth missions of all time, not just in the Call of Duty series.

Call of Duty fans have been discussing the ‘All Ghillied Up’ mission on Reddit. “The best COD mission ever?” asked Gnnz. While much of the thread shared different favourite missions from the series, including ‘Exodus’ from Modern Warfare 2 and ‘Vendetta’ from World at War, a lot of the Reddiors were in agreement with Gnnz.

“Oh my, yes,” replied joerice1979. “To not go in all guns blazing was a breath of fresh air, in such a unique setting also! The pace of that mission was faultless; sneak, evade, defend, panic, escape.”

“This is also the first one to come to mind,” said PatAD. “It was unlike any fps mission I had done up until that point. COD: MW was such an incredible moment in gaming history. From the story to the multiplayer, it was unlike anything else.”

In related news, fans also say that the ‘Crash’ multiplayer map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the best of all time, and sadly, Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera is shutting down for good.
