Call Of Duty: Vanguard named the worst COD of all-time by fans

Call Of Duty: Vanguard named the worst COD of all-time by fans

Is Vanguard the worst Call of Duty game?

Pretty much each and every year, we’re treated to a new Call of Duty entry for better or worse, and it’s very likely that we’ll get a few stinkers amongst the gems.

When Call of Duty was originally released in 2003, I doubt many would have predicted the goliath that it would become today leaving Battlefield and Medal of Honor in its shadow. Whether it’s a high-octane single-player campaign, traditional multiplayer or the free-to-play battle royale Warzone, there are plenty of reasons why fans continue to come back for more.

Check out our favourite Call of Duty: Vanguard wins and fails below.

Some of the best picks of the bunch include World at War, the original two Modern Warfare games, as well as the Black Ops entries. Unfortunately, it can be argued that the likes of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Advanced and Infinite Warfare, not to mention Vanguard, bring down the series' tone. The latter of which is today’s topic of discussion.

“The worst Call of Duty game of all time is [blank],” asked the Call of Duty fan account CharlieIntel. There were many contenders in the thread, including the rebooted Modern Warfare series, but it does appear that 2021’s Call of Duty: Vanguard from Sledgehammer Games is mentioned more than most.

“Second worst campaign ever, the ACTUAL worst Zombies game mode, one of the worst multiplayer that has no clear identity,” exclaimed HunterTV expressing their thoughts on Vanguard. The vast majority of the other comments say simply “Vanguard”, so I won’t include them all here but you get the drift.

In our review of Call of Duty: Vanguard, we said: “The campaign, albeit short, gives you a unique view of WWII at the heart of one of the deadliest squads. And the Zombies mode? It exists, but the less said about it, the better.”

As for the immediate future, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox on 10 November 2023.
