Warzone 2 players furious over 'shameless' pay-to-win bundles

Warzone 2 players furious over 'shameless' pay-to-win bundles

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 players are furious over ‘shameless’ pay-to-win bundles.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 players are furious over ‘shameless’ pay-to-win bundles in the popular battle royale.

DLC in multiplayer is an accepted trend. Especially when we can gain access to snazzy cosmetic items that make us catch the eye of envious opponents.

Battle passes too are a common feature in most free-to-play battle royales, as it’s not only a way for the developers to recoup some money, but it’s also a fun way for player engagement with a clear path for some cool unlockable items.

However, in just about every form of multiplayer genre, pay-to-win content is very much frowned upon giving players an unfair advantage if they’re willing to part with the cash. Though, there are a lot of cheaters in multiplayer games, so sadly, it’s not frowned upon by all.

One such pay-to-win DLC comes in the form of DMZ bundles for the new and popular mode in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. As reported by Dexerto, the aforementioned DMZ bundles include a free UAV, as well as bonus perks, all courtesy of new premium skins.

Normally in any Call of Duty game, a UAV would be activated by gaining a killstreak in a match, usually by accumulating three consecutive kills. Whereas perks are often unlocked via progression and once acquired, they can be equipped to your loadout.

The DMZ bundle arrived as part of the Season 3 update on 12 April. Various bundles are available to purchase with a total of five new Operator skins and weapons with boosts. If purchased, these bundles can offer a UAV as soon as the match starts as well as instant access to a Self-Revive Kit.

What’s more, a ‘Classic Ghost’ bundle provides the player with a 2-plate armour vest, meaning that they can take a few more hits from the get-go. The EOD Specialist Operator skin gives the player a Medium Backpack, which means that they can carry more items than a player that has not parted with 1,200 Cod Points.

To frustrate players even more, if you want to unlock a fourth Active Duty Slot for DMZ, you have to spend a further 1,200 CoD Points. It is believed that a basic perk such as this one should be added to the player's loadout via progression without having to part with more money.

Call of Duty players have been venting their anger in a Reddit thread.

“Okay, I’m done with this game officially. The first battle pass I won’t buy for Warzone. I’ve barely been playing it anyway,” said MRichards18. “They clearly are fully committed to penny-pinching at every angle. I’ve never bought cosmetics, but I’ve always done battle pass, that stops now.”

“Well, boys. It was fun while it lasted. Activision basically surpasses EA now with shameless money-grabbing,” expressed batZie_. “P2W makes this game even more meaningless.”

“What the f*** this is literally PTW,” exclaimed phoenixmusicman. So yeah, I think it’s fair to say that there are a lot of unhappy Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 players right now.
