We all love to expand upon the games that we love which is why, if done right, a meaty expansion is often a very welcomed addition.
Announced in September of last year, Phantom Liberty is one such expansion that looks to add more of what we love to the once-troubled Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt RED. Phantom Liberty not only brings a new story, missions, characters, skills, weapons and tech, but also a totally new area to Night City, called the Pacifica Combat Zone.

Described as a ‘spy-thriller’, protagonist V is sent on a seemingly impossible espionage mission channelling their inner Solid Snake after pledging their allegiance to the New United States of America, for reasons currently unknown. Phantom Liberty will also not only see the return of Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand, but we will also be introduced to Solomon Reed, an FIA agent played by Idris Elba.

We hope that Phantom Liberty will offer substantial content, but in terms of length and depth, we can only really speculate during its pre-release period which in turn, makes it difficult to state whether the expansion will offer good value for money or not. However, an apparent price leak has left gamers divided.
In a post shared on Reddit (via TwistedVoxel), the price has seemingly leaked ahead of an official reveal in the coming days. Phantom Liberty appeared on the PC digital store GOG.com and it was labelled with the price of €29.99, which could convert to roughly £29.99/$34.99 but the latter is speculation.
“€30 is very expensive in my opinion if that's the price,” said Redditor PlanktonBonus. “I got the base game for £15 and it was okay and I don't think I [would've] wanted to pay much more as I did experience a few bugs and the world didn't feel very alive.”
“I’ll wait till it’s on sale,” responded S3HN5UCHT. “Great! I’ll wait for patches and wait till it’s on sale for $10 or less,” replied LuckyDuck4. “I can’t believe they are trying to charge 30 dollars for this. Wouldn’t give this company a dime,” exclaimed Far_Bad7786.

Perhaps Phantom Liberty will offer great value for money and if the new area is dense, has a lengthy playtime and is an interesting story, the price in my opinion doesn't seem too steep.
That being said, following the initial launch of Cyberpunk 2077, which was so bad that Sony removed it from the PSN Store, CDPR hasn't earned my benefit of the doubt. Granted, Cyberpunk 2077 is in a much better state now and in truth, it’s finally a fantastic game. Yet, it might be wise to hold out until the launch of the expansion to get an idea as to whether it offers value for money.
