Cyberpunk 2077 sequel plot tease found in Phantom Liberty expansion

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel plot tease found in Phantom Liberty expansion

Players have spotted a potential plot tease for Cyberpunk 2077's upcoming sequel, Project Orion, in the conclusion of Phantom Liberty.

I am well and truly head over heels for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s so lovely to see just how far this game has come since its rocky release back in 2020. That whole debacle is, of course, inexcusable but it’s refreshing to see Cyberpunk 2077 finally reaching its potential following the release of Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0.

Many have since hailed Night City as the greatest location in gaming - a bold claim, certainly, but there’s so much to see and do in Nighty City. That’s even more so the case now that we have the Dogtown district to explore too. It’s no surprise that players are flocking to the game given the rave reviews - and it may even soon overtake Starfield’s player count. While Phantom Liberty may be the game’s only expansion - devs are moving onto the next Witcher instalment - it’s not the end of the franchise. A sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Project Orion, is in the works, and fans think they’ve uncovered a major plot tease in Phantom Liberty.

Take a look at Phantom Liberty in action below.

This is your spoiler warning. The remainder of this article contains heavy Phantom Liberty spoilers. With that out of the way, those of you who have played Phantom Liberty will know it concerns some advanced AI Cyberware which has fallen into the hands of Songbird. As reported by GamesRadar, while the outcome changes depending on your choices, one option sees players assist Solomon Reed in fulfilling Songbird’s request which reveals just how large of a threat Blackwall, the AI tech, is.

In Reddit user L3tAerithLivePls’s final scene, Alt declared, “Fortunately, your reality’s technology is too rudimentary to let open the floodgates. In limiting you, it limits them, keeps them at bay. Though this will not last.” Many have assumed this to mean that AI and Blackwall will play a major part in Project Orion.

“Yep, seems like she’s hinting that if Cyberware gets too advanced (i.e. Songbird), Blackwall AI will be able to possess people like demons. Definitely a setup for Cyberpunk 2088 or something to that effect,” user metal_signal17 theorised.” I’m already itching to dive into the sequel.
