Cyberpunk 2077's final secret has been found, and it was staring us right in the face

Cyberpunk 2077's final secret has been found, and it was staring us right in the face

One Cyberpunk 2077 player has just discovered yet another Easter egg, garnering praise from developers.

What a transformative couple of years it’s been for Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED certainly got there in the end.

While that transformation began in 2022 with the launch of the game’s new-gen update, it was arguably in 2023 that Cyberpunk 2077 finally resembled the vision first set forth by developers.

The excellent Phantom Liberty expansion landed alongside the much-needed Update 2.0, introducing vehicular combat, updated cyberware and policing, plus a new relic skill tree.

This was followed by Update 2.1’s metro system, leaving fans to declare that had Cyberpunk 2077 released in this state, it might have won Game of the Year.

Unfortunately, that’s pretty much it when it comes to major updates for Cyberpunk 2077.

Instead, developers will now only offer light support for the game, with their attention firmly turned to the next instalment in The Witcher franchise.

Beyond that, Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel - codenamed Project Orion - is in the works, but how ever will we keep ourselves busy in the meantime?

With yet another playthrough, of course! And it just so happens that fans have uncovered yet another Easter egg for us to take a look at.

Take a look at Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion in action below.

As reported by The Gamer, an Easter egg has been hiding under our noses this whole time. Yes, in the game’s start up menu.

The discovery was brought to light by Twitter user crushovitz_b who demonstrated that if you hover over the box located in the top right-hand corner of the menu which shows the number of the latest version of the game - currently reading 2.12 - it changes to 2.0.77 as a nice little nod to the game’s title.

A producer on the game, Monika Janowska, replied to the tweet, writing, “Finally! Super happy it was found. Great job.”

Who knew that this game was still hiding secrets?

CDPR’s Pawel Sasko added, “Good find. I started to doubt you chooms will ever find it! Was hidden way too well.”

“Who even thinks of this kind of Easter egg,” replied one fan. CD Projekt RED developers, it seems.
