Dying Light 2 releases free DLC and major update for first anniversary

It’s been a year since Dying Light 2: Stay Human was released and to celebrate the game’s first anniversary, Techland are releasing a major update including free DLC. Well, that’s what we like to hear.

I remember the day it was announced that it could take you 500 hours to complete Dying Light 2. Thankfully, it doesn’t take quite that long. Unless you’re a true completionist, you can see the vast majority of the game in around 100 hours. It’s still a huge undertaking. In our review, GAMINGbible’s Ewan wrote, “Techland’s long-awaited zombie RPG mostly delivers the goods in style, providing an expansive - if not entirely original - open-world playground that’s filled with epic action, pleasingly brutal combat, and some difficult choices.” Well, that playground just got a little bit bigger.

Over on the Techland blog, the team announced that players who own both Dying Light and Dying Light 2 can now grab the Crane Bundle for free from TechlandGG. The Crane Bundle includes an outfit, weapon, and paraglider. Players will also have the chance to complete community goals during both the Bloody Anniversary event (31 January - 9 February) and the Dropkick Weekend (9 February - 13 February).

Those who complete both will be able to unlock the Rais Bundle and the Brecken Bundle, also for free. Both sets include a weapon, outfit, and paraglider. If you’re yet to try Dying Light 2, Techland also has a 50% discount on the game. A major update has been made available for the title too.

The update has added cross-gen support for PlayStation and Xbox, improved ragdoll physics and AI reactions, the return of Dynamic Competitions, and other quality of life improvements. For example, players can now skip cutscenes, and audio for night chases has been made to be even more frightening. A roadmap was also presented teasing a new night experience in June and a new story expansion and location in late 2023. There’s plenty to look forward to, that’s for sure.
