Company Gives Staff Four-Day Weekend To Play 'Elden Ring'

We love to see it

After years of anticipation, Elden Ring is finally out. FromSoftware's latest adventure is already one of the best-reviewed games ever, and rightfully so.

In case you missed it earlier this week, Elden Ring is GAMINGbible's first 10/10 of the year. It's a truly remarkable, sprawling, once-in-a-generation video game that will surely go down as one of the greats.

That's a lot of hype to put on a game, of course. I've no doubt that there are tens of thousands of gamers around the world who couldn't book today off, and are currently desperately watching the clock as they count down the hours until they can get home and start their journey through The Lands Between.

Fortunately, at least one employer out there understands the intoxicating pull of Elden Ring. As reported by Kotaku, a Japanese company called Pocket Pair has realised nobody is going to be able to properly focus today, and has simply allowed everyone to stay home and play FromSoftware's masterpiece.

To be fair, Pocket Pair is a Tokyo-based video game studio and as such probably understands and loves gaming more than most employees out there, but this is still a classy move. The day has formally been declared an "Elden Holiday". Even better, they've been given the Monday off too! A four-day weekend to play Elden Ring? That's something I wish I'd done, to be honest.

If you're just beginning your first tentative steps in Elden Ring, be sure to check out our spoiler-free top tips for survival in The Lands Between. Or just ignore our advice and storm ahead on your own. Self-discovery is a huge part of what makes Elden Ring such a special experience, after all.
