Fallout 2 Unreal Engine 5 remake is absolutely incredible

One fan has created an incredible tribute to Fallout 2 in Unreal Engine 5.

It’s the season of giving and good cheer, so it feels like the perfect opportunity for us to shout out and draw attention to some of our favourite fan projects from this year.

The Game Awards is just one of many award ceremonies held to celebrate our favourite studios and developers for their achievements, but fans are also doing incredible work. Whether it’s a mod, playable demo, or simply just a video they’ve created, we all take joy from their efforts. Today, we’re here to praise one Fallout fan who’s crafted a stunning tribute to Fallout 2 in Unreal Engine 5 - providing a fresh, slick take on the 1998 classic.

Fallout: London is another incredible fan project. This expansive mod is truly impressive - and you can take a look at the trailer below.

The Fallout 2 project is the work of YouTuber GK Animations. Titled ‘A Tribute to Fallout 2, the video is just that. Using the power of Unreal Engine 5, GK Animations recreated a series of atmospheric shots that look as if they’ve been lifted from what Fallout 2 might look like if it was released in 2023. GK Animations captured the feeling of the game perfectly, but I’ll let the video speak for itself.

Talking about the project, GK Animations wrote, “This video is my tribute to Fallout 2, a personal project made with Unreal Engine 5. As a huge fan of the original Fallout games, I’ve always wanted to see their world in 3D or a film, so I figured why not make a short one, somewhat based on the intro to Fallout 2. It’s surely not perfect. I’ll keep working on it as I learn Unreal Engine and character animations.”

The small project has gone down well with fans. “You should be proud of what you made here. This is a stellar animation. Captures that old, less detailed, and morbid feel of the original Fallout games,” one viewer commented, while another said, “Looks amazing. Huge Fallout fan as well. Good attention to detail.” It’s a bravo from us.
