Fallout 3 is considered to be one of the best RPGs of all time and not just one under the Bethesda umbrella. Some could even say that Fallout 3 set the standard for all following games in the Bethesda series.
Released in 2008 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Fallout 3 was met with high critical acclaim earning a score of 93 and the “Must-Play” accolade on the aggregate website Metacritic, solidifying its place as an all-time great. However, not just content with the critical success of the base Fallout 3 game, Bethesda later launched some fantastic pieces of DLC giving fans even more of a reason to return to the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

“Point Lookout is the most open-ended DLC yet and allows you to explore an entirely new and expansive gameplay area any way you’d like. A completely new quest line allows you to uncover the town’s hidden secrets, and wield powerful new weapons like the Double-Barrel Shotgun against the swamp’s dangerous, and deformed, denizens. So venture to Point Lookout, if you dare. Just pray it’s not a one-way trip,” reads the synopsis of the popular DLC.

It’s been a lot of years since I last played the Point Lookout DLC but from what I remember, it had quite an eerie atmosphere and was one of my favourite pieces of extra content for Fallout 3 alongside Mothership Zeta. Now, in homage to the Point Lookout DLC, dedicated fans have remastered the content for Fallout 4. The ‘Fallout 4: Point Lookout’ remaster is a mod created by ZanthirEAS and HcGxGrill, and it’s available to download for free now via Nexusmods.
The mod description says that the Point Lookout remaster for Fallout 4 features all the locations, quests, NPCs, weapons, consumables and more found in the original DLC from 2009. However, this faithful fan-made remaster also comes with newly animated icons for several perks as well as new load screens.
At the time of writing, the Point Lookout remaster mod is only available for the PC version of Fallout 4. That being said, with the arrival of the new-gen upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this year, hopefully, that will change.
