Gamer Attempts To Improve PC, Makes It Explode Instead

There’s no doubt that PC gamers can create some super cool setups. Forget your usual RGB lighting and high-end graphics cards, we’ve got people out here installing PCs into working toilets and fish tanks, just because they can. I have nothing but respect for that. 

Take a look at that fish tank PC being built below.

Unfortunately though, things can go very wrong very fast with PC building, even if you’re not attempting to put the parts into a tank filled with water. One gamer has taken to Reddit to share their nightmare, which saw their entire front panel promptly explode when they attempted to do some upgrades.

“Never thought it would happen to me. Just trying to clean it before installing new [RAM]. Second I tried to take the front panel off it exploded,” Firesplinter9757 wrote. “I was more worried about my twin [two] year olds doing something to it than the surface I put it on… Turns out my negligence is more dangerous lol.”

So, what exactly happened here? Thankfully, shattered panel aside, the OP has the answers: “From what I learned from the comments[,] apparently tempered glass can be compromised by stone and granite even if it doesn’t touch it directly,” they explained. “I assume it’s the certain vibrations that go through the case when it’s set down on those materials. But in this case it shattered in my hands the second I applied pressure to take it off. Never touched the countertop.”

Let it be a lesson to anyone attempting to do anything with tempered glass on stone and granite - maybe, uh, don’t.
