This 70-Year-Old Dad's Reaction To 'The Mandalorian' Season Two Finale Is Too Much

One of the most beautiful things about Star Wars is that its a series that spans generations. My parents grew up with the original trilogy, while my first taste of the galaxy far, far away was with the prequels.

As a result, the nine movies that span the Skywalker saga will mean different things to different fans. I can understand, for example, why those who grew up with Phantom Menace have a soft spot for it. By a similar token, I understand why so many older fans believe the franchise will never surpass Empire Strikes Back.

This wide range of opinions on what Star Wars is and should be can often do more harm than good, unfortunately. But every now and again, the fans are unified in their love of the series. It doesn't happen often, but it's a heck of a thing when it does.

One such example comes via Reddit user probablyoliver, who was kind enough to share his 70-year-old dad's reaction to Luke Skywalker's iconic cameo in the season two finale of The Mandalorian.

"He's been a huge Star Wars fan since the original, and he's been ringing me after every episode to tell me how much he loves it," probablyoliver explains. "Figured I'd make the trip down for the finale. It was totally worth it."

Probablyoliver's dad will have been in his late 30s/early 40s* around the time of the original trilogy, but it's clear that not growing up with the series robbed none of the magic from him. As you can see below.

"It's Luke Skywalker," probablyoliver's dad exclaims in disbelief. "Luke Skywalker! F***ing hell." I think we all went through a similar process the first time we saw that scene, right?

"He sat like this, literally on the edge of his seat, for the entire episode," probablyoliver added. "The scene where Luke's just destroying Dark Troopers before the reveal, his head was basically bobbing and weaving with every lightsaber swing. It was dope.

"He's a big kid, and I love it. If I have even one fraction of the joy he has at his age, I'm in for a damn good life."

*Edit: he will have been in his 20s, of course - I apologize unreservedly for attempting to do math in the morning. It is clearly not where I shine.
