It looks like Crash Bandicoot is returning once again. This time, however, it might not be in quite the way you expected. According to leaked screenshots that have been circulating online, the popular orange gaming mascot is headed to mobile devices in what looks to be an endless runner-style game.
Twitter users JumpButton and Motwera first discovered the alleged title through ads on Facebook. The game is apparently being developed by King, the Activision Blizzard-owned studio responsible for mobile mega-hit Candy Crush. Based on the images, which you can see below, it looks like at least part of the game will be set on Wumpa Island, with Wumpa Fruit to collect and TNT crates to avoid.
It looks like there'll also be some kind of base-building feature and, one imagines, a chance to spend lots of money in an in-game store. Basically, it looks like an endless runner. That's no bad thing, of course. People like Crash, and people enjoy endless runners on mobile. I imagine that if this is legit, it'll be a nice little earner for Activision.

While the existence of a Crash Bandicoot mobile game has yet to be officially confirmed by Activision, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if this was the real deal. Late last year the publisher announced that it was looking into adapting many more of its old IPs for mobile, following the massive success of Call Of Duty Mobile.
"A third of our business is on mobile already," Activision COO Coddy Johnson told investors in an earnings call. "We have the largest mobile gaming presence in the west. So we want to build on that leadership position. We think it's a foundation of strength to do that. [Mobile] is a massive opportunity, and we think not just for Call of Duty and not just for Diablo Immortal."
In its first week, Call Of Duty Mobile managed to surpass 100 million downloads worldwide, becoming the most successful mobile launch of all time. I can't imagine a Crash Bandicoot game will do quite as well, but bringing such a well-loved IP to mobile really is a no-brainer for Activision.
