'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Bounties Have Vanished With The Latest Update

Here we go again.

Call Of Duty: Warzone is a lot like real life in many ways. For one thing, you pretty much need a steady income to be able to function. There are many ways to survive and claim victory in the free-to-play battle royale, but collecting as much money during a match is so often the key to that crucial advantage.

Loadout drops, armour packs, killstreaks, and ammo reloads can all be found scattered across the map, sure... but the players who gather up money the quickest and purchase these crucial items from buy stations are the ones who are more likely to come out on top. After all, you don't want to be zig-zagging between buildings with a crappy pistol while a fully kitted-out squad sits comfortably on a roof and snipes at you with a bulging box of ammo next to them.

Beyond that, money plays a crucial role in that it can be used to redeploy fallen teammates. And let's be honest, even if the rest of your team is absolutely rubbish, it doesn't hurt to buy them back so you've got some live bait to draw out enemy squads. I say this knowing full well I'm the live bait in most combat situations, by the way.

There are lots of ways to pick up this crucial currency in Warzone. Taking out players is fine, but you never know how loaded they are until they're dead. You could kill someone who's flat broke and get nothing to show for it (apart from a kill, I guess). The best way by far is to take on one of the game's many Contracts.

These Contracts can be found scattered across the map and come in a few varieties. Scavenger simply asks players to track down and open three crates. Recon involves heading to a point on the map and securing it by staying near it for a little while without getting your head blown off. And Bounties - probably the most popular - put a target on an enemy player's head, leaving it to you to track them down and take them out within a time limit.

Except it seems Bounties have now been removed as part of the game's most recent update. We knew that Infinity Ward was introducing a new high-risk/high-reward Most Wanted Contract, but we had no idea that would come at the expense of a classic Bounty.

When the Call Of Duty community first heard about Most Wanted Contracts, they were pretty excited. The new Contract involves taking out a Bounty on yourself, essentially. However, the catch is that every player on the map will be alerted to your location, meaning you risk putting yourself in the middle of an intense firefight. The reward would be worth it though, as survival leads to the automatic redeployment of all fallen teammates.

Nope, nobody had a problem with Most Wanted Contracts. Until everybody realised that meant normal Bounties were out. This isn't the first time Infinity Ward has removed a mode or feature without really communicating it to the players, and people were not happy.

"It's a change to help the casuals again," redditor Fortnitexs wrote of the removal of bounties. "This game is so noob friendly it's insane. Good players go for bounty contracts to chase kills so the camping noobs are getting killed. With this new change they can stay hidden and camp their way to a win."

It would seem this change hasn't gone down brilliantly, then. Infinity Ward does have a habit of reversing its most-disliked decisions, so there's every chance an incoming update could bring further adjustments to the Bounty Contracts. We'll have to wait and see if the community can get used to Most Wanted instead, I guess.
