Infinity Ward has confirmed that the standard Trios mode will be returning to Call Of Duty: Warzone tomorrow (April 17th). This comes just days after the mode was removed in favour of a new limited-time mode called Scopes and Scatter Guns. As the name implies, this mode restricted the weapons available in the battle royale to snipers and shotguns.

"Grab your merry band of three in this twist on Battle Royale that brings you into new ranges of play," Activision wrote in a blog post. "Will you get up close and pack a devastating punch with a shotgun? Or decide to deal death at distance with a sniper? Make your choice or do a mix of both, just try to outlast the enemy and the collapse in this Battle Royale variant to claim victory. "

Unfortunately, not everyone was particularly jazzed about Scopes and Scatter Guns, especially as it came at the expense of the option to play a normal round of Trios. Fans made their feelings on this very clear, and developer Infinity Ward has confirmed that Trios will return to the game at 11pm PST, which is 7am on Friday morning here in the UK.

While it's great that Infinity Ward has listened to fan feedback, this is actually the second time Trios has been taken out of the battle royale with no warning. When Season 3 arrived with the inclusion of a four-player Quads mode, Trios was nowhere to be seen. Players made their anger known and Infinity Ward was quick to include it again, but you have to wonder why the developer keeps cycling out what seems to be the most popular mode in the game.

Many players seem to agree that the "core" Solo, Trios, and Quads modes should also remain in circulation, with limited time modes coming and going with no effect on the usual lineup. I'm sure Infinity Ward has good reasons for adding and removing modes in the way it does, though it could clearly do a better job of explaining these decisions to the fans.

We know, for instance, that Season 3 will introduce Duos somewhere down the line. This is, as far as I can see, the most-requested addition to Warzone by some distance... but will it come at the expense of Trios or Quads in the name of matchmaking? We'll just have to wait and see.
