Call Of Duty: Warzone has been immensely popular since launching back in March. The free-to-play battle royale has dedicated players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. But with the next-gen consoles expected to release before the end of this year, you might be wondering exactly what the future holds for the shooter.
Unsurprisingly, it seems that Warzone will be making the jump to next-gen hardware. In a recent interview with GamerGen, Infinity Ward's Narrative Director Taylor Kurosaki said the studio has plans to update the battle royale for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While Kurosaki couldn't get into much detail regarding what, when, or how the game will be making the generational jump, he revealed that he's certain next-gen is all part of Warzone's constantly evolving plan.
"I know that our plan is Warzone is going to be around for quite some time," he explained. "So as soon as those new systems are out and available I'm sure we'll support them."

The PS5 and Xbox Series X are reportedly both still on track to release around the holiday period this year, which would mean anywhere between October and December. Recent rumours suggest Sony is gearing up to reveal more about the PS5 during a livestream event in the next few weeks, while Microsoft has also teased a similar show for the Xbox Series X.
Unfortunately, neither company has discussed the matter of pricing just yet. Analysts and insiders have warned that, at least as far as the PS5 is concerned, the current global crisis could drive up the cost of the new console. Hopefully we don't have much longer to wait, because... well, some of us need to start saving up sooner rather than later.
As for the more immediate future of Warzone, Infinity Ward and Raven Software have been teasing what we can expect as part of the game's fourth season of content. According to Kurosaki, there'll be new characters joining the fight, as well as more mysteries to discover and unravel across the game's massive map.

"Players have already discovered that there is a whole other part of Verdansk they haven't seen yet," he teased. "They have found clues, and that there is more than meets the eye in this city. Season 4 will unravel some of those mysteries and unlock some of them for our players."
In the same interview, the developers also confirmed that the much-requested Duos mode is currently in development and should be releasing soon. Basically, it very much seems as if Warzone is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Hopefully that gives me enough time to get good at it... but I doubt it.
