'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Update Introduces An Intense New Mode

No mistakes, no do-overs.

The latest patch for Call Of Duty: Warzone has gone live, and developer Infinity Ward has detailed everything we can expect from the battle royale update on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. As usual, there's a standard mix of new content and fixes, but there's also a brand-new mode to get stuck into.

As previously suggested thanks to a revealing datamine, it looks like Warzone will be getting a new limited-time mode called Classic Battle Royale. As the name suggests, this is the battle royale experience stripped down to its simplest form. That means Warzone features we're used to, like Buy Stations, Contracts, and the Gulag, are all gone. If you die, you die.

This sounds like it should be a pretty awesome experience for anyone out there looking for a hardcore experience. Personally, I don't think it's me. If only because I'm always guaranteed a trip to the Gulag at least once per game, and the idea of not being able to get that second shot at life isn't appealing to someone as sucky at the game as I am.

This confirmation also lends further weight to the discovery of at least a dozen or so other limited-time modes that we can assume Infinity Ward has planned for the coming months. Dataminers found references to various modes, including "Mo Gulag Mo Problems", in which players "dead players go to Gulag until final 3 circles, NO buybacks."

Some other interesting additions include "BYOL", which will let you start with your own custom loadout, and "Non Stop", a mode where the gas doesn't stop "PewPew" will introduce high damage pistols and explosive physics, and "Run Like Hell" makes the gas circle impossibly fast. We'll have to look out for these in future updates.

As for here and now, the latest update has introduced a few other new features to the Battle Royale. Players can now track down an Armor Box item, which gives you the chance to fully restock your armour. Infinity Ward has also added even more weapons to the Gulag, which should make for greater variety during those all-important 1v1 matches.

The divisive - and incredibly intense - Most Wanted Contracts are back, although this time not at the expense of any of the other Contracts. The Blood Money Quads mode has also been reintroduced. Meanwhile, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare will be getting two new maps and a few new modes. Plenty to be getting on with, then.
