'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Update Making Important Changes To Gas Circle

'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Update Making Important Changes To Gas Circle

It's a gas.

Like most battle royale titles, Call Of Duty: Warzone gradually restricts player movement within the open-world map via an ever-shrinking circle. Stray from the safety of this circle, and some form of unsavoury element will strip you of your health and kill you off. In the case of Warzone, players are forced towards the circle by a terrifying wall of gas.

While it's possible to stay alive in this gas for brief windows, it's not exactly somewhere you want to stick around. Similarly, you don't ever want to be in a position where you're desperately only just outrunning the gas as it closes in. For one thing it leaves you massively exposed to any enemy teams who might be watching out for people like you. For another, the gas can occasionally move so quickly that it's nearly impossible to get ahead of, even if you're going at a full sprint.

The good news, or at least I hope it's good news, is that this is all about to change. In a blog post detailing the April 28th patch for the battle royale, developer Infinity Ward confirmed that the update will adjust "the speed and sizing of the circle in Warzone". Unfortunately, it isn't entirely clear which ways these adjustments will go.

The more likely scenario is that the update will be slowing the circle down a little bit, as it can currently move along at an alarming rate. It could also be that the developer intends to make the initial circle of each game a little smaller, which could help to streamline matches and allow the gas to move slower between subsequent circles.

It's certainly not as if the final circle could get any smaller or any more intense, could it? Whatever happens, we won't have long to wait until we find out, what with the update going live tomorrow and all. The update will also bring a few new treats to Modern Warfare, including a new master camo, Gunsmith customisation, and a Shoot the Ship 24/7 playlist.

On top of all that, you can expect the usual tweaks and big fixes for both Modern Warfare and Warzone. Full patch notes will be available tomorrow once the update rolls out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC... but I imagine all eyes will be on Warzone's gas circle and how the changes impact the battle royale.
