DC Fans Fight To Keep Amber Heard Out Of 'Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom'

DC fans are threatening to boycott Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom after it emerged that Amber Heard would be reprising her role as Mera.

The announcement came as something of a surprise, following months of speculation as to whether or not the actor would come back to the role at all following the ongoing legal battle with ex-husband, Johnny Depp and the allegations of abuse that surfaced against Heard as a result of said battle.

In spite of this, and to the chagrin of many, Heard confirmed the news of her return herself earlier this month, sharing a photo of a "welcome back" card she'd received from director James Wan on Twitter.

Unsurprisingly, a number of fans have rallied against Heard's return for the sequel, with many threatening to boycott the film entirely unless she's removed.

Despite the public outcry, it seems fairly clear this is one online campaign DC fans won't win. Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom is set to release in December 2022, and it looks very much as if Heard will be a part of it.
