I have no idea how this is going to work, but I can't wait.

Ever since Disney and Marvel picked back up the rights to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, fans have wondered one thing: How on Earth will Ryan Reynold's sweary, gore-soaked version of Deadpool fit into the family-friendly Marvel Cinematic Universe?

It's not that the MCU doesn't have its darkest and more mature moments, but they've also never had a scene in which the main character was described as looking like the inside of someone's anus. You can see how Disney might have been reluctant to stick such a character in the same universe as Spider-Man and The Avengers.

Surprisingly then, it looks like the upcoming Deadpool 3 will in fact be a part of the MCU. Perhaps even more surprisingly, it will remain, like the first two films, R-rated. Collider recently spoke to MCU boss Kevin Feige, who confirmed that Ryan Reynold's next outing as the merc with a mouth won't hold back just because things have moved from Fox to Disney.

"It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan's overseeing a script right now," Feige explained. "It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We've got a number of things we've already announced that we now have to make, but it's exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life."

It's unclear when exactly we'll finally get to see Deadpool 3, as Marvel already has a pretty full slate of upcoming TV shows and movies. It is great, however, to see that the MCU will be branching out and using characters in more mature stories. It gives me fresh hope that Netflix's excellent Daredevil can be revived on Disney+ with the same cast, and that they can move forward with the story they were telling.

Of course there's also every chance that Deadpool could turn up for a cameo in another hero's movie before Deadpool 3. We already know that the upcoming WandaVision and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness will be opening up the MCU in big ways, leaving the door wide open for the Deadpool we all know and love to come swaggering on through.
