Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has popped up on a ratings board in South Korea, lending a lot of credence to the speculation that Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are all getting remastered this year.

While the new-gen version of Grand Theft Auto 5 is on the way in March 2022, fans aren't overly enamoured with the prospect of diving into Los Santos once again, this time with sparkly particle effects. In fact, the newest trailer showing off the improvements between the last-gen and new-gen versions of the acclaimed game has a significant disparity of dislikes to likes on YouTube. Fans' insistence on seeing something, anything of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 has even led Rockstar Games to mute mentions of the sixth entry to the series in its comments section.

The fatigue that fans have for Grand Theft Auto 5 has meant that they've leapt on the rumours of remasters for Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas like a lion on a defenseless gazelle. Reports claim that these are in the works with Rockstar Dundee, and with this spot on a ratings board, the remasters just might be with us before the end of the year.

Resetera user Uzupedro found the references to something titled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee website. Interestingly, Take-Two Interactive only applied for the rating on the 30th of September, which simply shows that Grand Theft Auto fans never sleep.

The entry is rated 18 and, if the other reports are verifiable, these remasters could contain content that was originally left on the cutting room floor for the original releases. Moreover, while there are no images or gameplay of the remasters in the wild, Kotaku's sources assure fans that the Unreal Engine versions of the games are a mix of "new and old graphics" while "staying true to the PS2-era GTA games as much as possible".

Naturally, we aren't able to say for sure whether or not the remasters are arriving in 2021, but unintentional announcements from ratings boards tend to be a good sign that the game is getting ready to be revealed. Watch this space, and we'll keep you in the loop when we know more.
