Rockstar's NPCs at least know to run away from a player firing a gun

Leave it to gamers to find a detailed way of comparing NPCs in one game to another. One fan has made a detailed video looking at both the non-playable characters in both open-world games, and come to the conclusion that GTA 5 has better NPCs through science. And by science, we mean pointing a gun at them and seeing what happens.

Bear Gaming Asia has been comparing the reactions and capabilities of NPCs in both games and measuring how complex they are through those responses. The first comparison is seeing what NPCs do when you aim a gun at them and Cyberpunk 2077's characters cover their heads and don't move. Grand Theft Auto 5's however, have a variety of responses: some hit you with their car, some try to run, and others retaliate through drawing a gun of their own.

Next comparison is staring at random NPCs. Cyberpunk's just sort of tolerate the annoyance, looking at you as if you're not being creepy, while GTA's will fight you to the death if you stand perfectly still and gawk at them long enough.

The video goes through a variety of comparisons like this - from attacking people's vehicles, to gently squashing them with your car. Hitting someone in front of the police in Cyberpunk doesn't seem to have any repercussions while in GTA it'll get you two stars instantly.

Basically, this video shows that either the NPC interactions of GTA V are more incredible than we realise, or the people in Cyberpunk 2077 are just super patient with everyone and don't want any trouble from you, and will suddenly sometimes T-pose? Even the water in Rockstar's game is more reactive to being shot than CD Projekt Red's.

Thanks, GameRant for spotting this great video - we'll be sure to leave the poor helpless Cyberpunk NPCs alone but still get run over by GTA's in the future.
