'GTA 6' Single-Player DLC Claims Leave Fans Divided

'GTA 6' Single-Player DLC Claims Leave Fans Divided

Some things are just too ridiculous to believe.

Grand Theft Auto VI "leaks" are like bums, in that they're pretty much everywhere and the vast majority of them kind of stink.

There have been plenty of rumours and some truly wild expectations surrounding GTA VI over the past few years. Some believe the game will be a Narcos-style adventure that takes place across Vice City and South America. Others think it'll be set on one massive continent containing multiple cities that players can seamlessly travel between. The fact is, we just don't know what the deal is. Beyond the vague confirmation that Rockstar Games started early development on a new Grand Theft Auto game a couple of years ago, GTA VI - assuming that is even its name - remains shrouded in mystery.

It's precisely because of this complete radio silence on the game from Rockstar that a new leak or alleged insider seems to spring up at least once a week. That's not Rockstar's fault, to be clear, but you have to hand it to some of the "leakers" - they don't half put a lot of crap out there.

Most of the time we hear things that do make a certain kind of sense. Maybe they track with previous rumours or leaks, or maybe someone has uncovered a hint in the files of Grand Theft Auto Online or Red Dead Redemption 2. In instances like this, it's always worth taking a look but keeping a pinch of salt handy. But every now and again there are the leakers who claim to have all the details we could possibly want, and proceed to dump a thick slab of text on Reddit filled with fanciful claims outlining the smallest features.

As a rule, "leaks" like this are almost always 100% fake. It's someone throwing as much as they can at the wall in the hope some of it sticks and turns out to be true. Take samuel040800, who just posted the longest and most ridiculous series of GTA VI rumours I've ever seen. I won't be diving into these because I don't believe for a second they're legit, but it's worth taking a look here just to see how utterly ludicrous some of their predictions are.

So why bring up this leak at all if I'm convinced is not the real deal? Honestly, because I absolutely love the one claim that seemed to convince everyone else it was 100% bull poop. Following the part of the leak that alleges Rockstar Games is planning two single-player DLCs for GTA VI, a huge chunk of the subreddit immediately called foul.

To be entirely fair, there wasn't much in the leak that was pulling the wool over anyone's eyes, but the suggestion that Rockstar might have single-player DLC in the works was one lie too far. It's one thing to try and suggest a developer already has plans for single-player expansions years before the base game is even ready, it's quite another to get people to believe Rockstar Games would return to single-player DLC.

Comment from discussion GTA 6 new information.

GTA V has been out for nearly eight years, and we haven't seen a scrap of single-player DLC. Ditto for Red Dead Redemption 2. While we know Rockstar
wants to try and craft more content for GTA Online and Red Dead Online that can be played solo, I think the fans have long since accepted that the days of GTA single-player DLC are over. This Reddit thread is just proof of that.
