It looks like Hideo Kojima, the games director most famous for the Metal Gear Solid series, might be ready to reveal his next project. In a new interview with Kojima's collaborator and art director Yoji Shinkawa, the artist implied that the team at Kojima Productions are working hard on a new project and, whatever it is, should be ready to announce "quite soon".

Al Hub posted a video interview with Yoji Shinkawa, who's a long-time collaborator with Kojima and responsible for many of the director's characters and mecha designs in the past. The interview was spotted by VGC and, within it, there is a quiet confirmation it won't be long until Kojima Productions will confidently announce its next game, the follow-up to 2019's Death Stranding.

The key quote from Shinkawa is as follows: "I am doing something, for sure, and I could tell you probably that we can announce it quite soon." That sounds like the team is ready for a reveal, right? But what could the game be?

Some might think that Kojima Productions would just launch straight into a Death Stranding sequel - and, certainly, Death Stranding 2 isn't impossible. VGC notes that Norman Reedus, who plays the main character in Death Stranding, Sam Bridges, has hinted that he's been talking to Kojima Productions about another role in its games. In Wired's "Web's Most Searched Questions" video, Reedus says that after the huge hit of Death Stranding and becoming friends with Kojima, he's now "in talks to do other stuff". So, a Death Stranding 2 isn't off the table.

However, others might bet on Kojima returning to horror. After his Silent Hills project, also starring Norman Reedus, was cancelled by Konami, fans have been itching to see Kojima lean into horror games after the incredible potential of P.T. was cut short - although rumours persist that said strikingly terrifying demo could yet live on. It was recently revealed that Kojima had actually started on a horror project for Stadia, but that had yet again been cancelled.

So who knows what Kojima Productions will reveal, when it's time to do so. I think we can safely say, though, that whatever it is, it'll be a little bit weird, right? It's simply not Kojima without it being just a little bit weird.
