We've seen all sorts of exciting switch-ups in the world of skateboarding video games over the years, but this latest development could be more expected than most - it looks like Jack Black is coming to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 And 2 - Remastered as a playable character. Yep, seriously.

Fans of the game will already be familiar with the character of Officer Dick, a hapless skatebording cop who's appeared in every iteration of the Pro Skater series over the years.

Well, what if he was bolstered with Black's likeness? According to new files mined from the game's recently released demo, the character will be graced with the School of Rock star's visage. Unexpected? Yes. Fun? Yeah sure, why not.

As first shared on Reddit, an image of Jack Black's likeness was uncovered in the back end of the game's Warehouse demo, dressed in officer's uniform and holding a board.

While we haven't had official confirmation on secret characters just yet, Jack Black's inclusion as Officer Dick does make sense.

He recently sat down to play through the upcoming remake with Tony Hawk himself, so it's entirely likely that the Birdman invited Black to lend his likeness to the game.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 And 2 - Remastered is headed to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4th, and is being developed by Vicarious Visions.

Purists will be glad to know that the collection features all of the original skaters and levels, as well as a good chunk of music from the classic games, and a ton of entirely new tracks and artists.

GAMINGbible recently got to play through the Warehouse demo, and found it an absolute dream. It manages to be the Pro Skater we all remember, while adding enough new features to make it feel like a genuinely fresh experience. That's a tricky balancing act, but it seems Vicarious Visions has pulled it off.

"For many - myself included - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and its three sequels were the definitive sports simulators of our youth," wrote James Daly in his preview.

"Whether you wanted to master every level's objectives, or to simply roam around busting the occasional tre flip, this game and its sequels could happily claim hours of your life while you dropped in on quarter-pipes and dropped out to Goldfinger's 'Superman'. I couldn't be happier to say that the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 Demo keeps this joyous tradition going."

All of this and Jack Black? OK, I'm in.
