Hawk and Black.

The last time I checked out Jack Black's YouTube venture - Jablinski Games - it wasn't exactly what I expected from a self-proclaimed gaming channel.

Don't get me wrong, I loved watching the Tenacious D star take his kids out for burgers and to theme parks. Oh, and the week where he played chess with bandmate Kyle Gass was a real highlight. But I admit I also wanted him to finally get that Elgato working and fire up the platform of his choice.

It's been months since I last looked at Jablinski Games, but it's clear to me that Black has really upped his game - literally. In the movie star/YouTuber's most recent video, not only does he provide the world with a first in-depth look at the recently announced Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 And 2 Remastered in action, he does so with Tony Hawk himself sat right next to him. That right there is a serious flex.

Check it out for yourself below, or via this link if you'd rather go straight to the source. It's well worth 10 minutes of your time, if only to see the new game in all its glory.

Admittedly, the majority of the video is dedicated to Hawk and Black visiting a skate-park. Still, the couple of minutes dedicated to the new game is pretty special. We get to see Hawk tearing it up around the iconic Warehouse level - even pulling off a world famous 900 - before handing over to one of Black's kids. It's all terribly wholesome.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 And 2 Remastered is headed to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4th, and is being developed by Vicarious Visions. Purists will be glad to know that the collection features all of the original skaters and levels, as well as a good chunk of music from the classic games. Based on Jablinski's gameplay, it looks as if the controls have stayed true to the originals, which is a promising sign.

"The challenge of a faithful remaster is knowing where to push the boundaries and what to keep sacred, right?", Vicarious Visions COO Simon Ebejer told GAMINGbible recently "So it's important to capture the original experience, but still have the room to modernise things to appeal to today's audience. And some of the ways that we're doing those things... the handling and controls are super tight. It's gonna feel like the originals and you're gonna get that excellent gameplay experience when you're in the game."

Hopefully Hawk appears in a few more of Black's videos over the coming months. The two make a pretty endearing team. Also Hawk and Black is a fantastic name for a detective series, so I'd like to see someone make that happen.
