I think we've all watched The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and thought to ourselves that the homes of the hobbits look incredibly inviting. The crackling fires, the simple but delicious food, the beautiful rolling hills - it all feels as though you're coming home, though it's likely that you've never lived in a hole in the ground yourself. However, there is one guy who thought that rather than wishing he could visit the hobbit holes, he's just built one himself.

As reported by The Mirror, Ali Hughson has made his shed into his very own hobbit hole. The 47-year-old IKEA worker spent a mighty £2,000 and three years of planning to create this masterpiece in his back garden, and it looks stunning.

The next time we're going to Middle-earth will likely be in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum...

When talking to The Mirror, Hughson says that "When I was around 13 I read The Hobbit, and then watched the Lord of the Rings movies when they got released. I've been a fan of Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings all my life, I just love all that magical stuff. I always liked the idea of the hobbit's houses, the whole idea of being underground and surrounded by nature is cosy.

"There were illustrations in the books so I kind of had an idea from my younger days, then the movies brought it to life. just wanted to make something more magical than your normal garden shed."

He says that although planning began three years ago and the project took about six months to build, it took a while for Hughson to get around to placing the final touches. This biggest challenge, of course, was the round door that started as an octagon and then had to be bent into shape. Even now the project isn't entirely finished as he is yet to place some grass on the roof and a wood burner, but I think you'll agree the workshop looks fantastic.
