PlayStation Advises Against Playing 'Cyberpunk 2077' On PS4 After Putting It Back On Sale

We're getting mixed signals here.

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally back up on the PlayStation Store and is available to purchase digitally on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. But in an epic twist worthy of M. Night Shyamalan himself, PlayStation still doesn't actually think you should buy or play the CD Projekt RED RPG on PS4... but it will still sell the game to you. Talk about mixed signals.

The official PlayStation Twitter account announced the game's long-awaited return to the PS Store earlier today, but advised that work to fix its many glitches and issues continues. Clearly Cyberpunk 2077 still isn't up to much on base PS4 consoles, as PlayStation advises playing the game on a PS4 Pro or PS5.

You can see an analysis of how Cyberpunk 2077 performed on various consoles at launch below:

"Cyberpunk 2077 is now available at PlayStation Store," the tweet reads. "Work on the PS4 version continues, with fixes and updates to be released throughout the year: For the best experience on PlayStation, playing on PS4 Pro or PS5 consoles is recommended."

Understandably, people are a little miffed by this. After all, if PlayStation doesn't think it's good enough to play on a base PS4, should it be available to buy at all?

Cyberpunk 2077 was pulled from sale via the PS Store nearly six months ago after it became apparent the game was in a rough state. A number of patches have massively improved the situation, particularly on new-gen consoles, but that PlayStation still doesn't reckon it's a good idea to get the game on a standard PS4 is a worrying sign.
