Pokimane Announces Hot Tub Stream For 25th Birthday

Imane "Pokimane" Anys has announced that she'll be getting involved with the controversial "hot tub meta" that has taken over Twitch in recent months. Anys, one of the platforms biggest streamers, said that she'll be doing one for her Birthday, which is May 14.

Concrete details on the stream itself are vague at best right now. All Anys has really said on Twitter is that she's "convinced OfflineTV to do a hot tub stream" to celebrate turning 25. OfflineTV is, of course, the group of content creators Anys is a part of, and includes other notable members such as Jeremy "Disguised Toast" Wang and Lily "LiliPichu" Ki.

Given Anys' thoughts on the hot tub meta, any such stream involving her is likely to be some kind of send-up or parody, rather than a sincere embracing. It was only last month that the streamer joined other notable content creators in calling out Twitch for the divisive new trend.

"People toe the line so much that you need to have someone who can just, as a human, go to a stream and be like, ah, this is suggestive, and do something about that," she said during a stream last week. "That doesn't mean a ban. But do something about that so that it's not just suggestive streams that kind of take over the whole platform."

Understandably, Anys' announcement has sent the Twitch community into something of a frenzy, as you can see below. I filtered out the many, many gross and creepy replies so you didn't have to, by the way.

As I say, this particular hot tub stream is unlikely to be quite as straightforward as the many, many streams that currently dominate "just chatting". Watch this space.
