'Red Dead Redemption 2' Player Believes They've Finally Found Gavin

Hey, have you seen my friend Gavin? English bloke. Lovely feller. He went missing and, uh, now I'm all alone. GAVIIIIN?!

If you've played Red Dead Redemption 2, or heck, even read about it to any degree, there's a good chance you've heard of the mystery of the missing Gavin. That's not it's proper title but I like it. Gavin is an NPC in the game world that has gone missing, and it's a bit of an urban legend as to where he could be. Now, one player thinks they might have found him.

When cowpoke aren't out looking for Gavin, they find ways to make their own fun in the wild world of RDR2 and Red Dead Online. Check out some of our favourite moments below...

A post by u/DontTurnAround1 uploaded to the r/reddeadredemption subreddit seems very hopeful that they might have, at long last, found the poor lost soul. "Swear to God this is Gavin," they say. "More in comments." Let's take a look, shall we?

Okay. So that's a dead bloke. Could be anybody. So why does DontTurnAround1 think this is our mysterious English gent Gavin? They explain. "I just started Chapter 6, and was on my way to the widow in the north east mission. I saw a X marking a dead body and went to look, thought it may be a murfee brood ambush. When I got there, there was a guy getting off his horse to look at the body, felt scripted but idk. He didn't have any special dialog. But this guy has a VERY similar outfit to Nigel. I might try to take his body to a city to see if anything happens."

Upon returning the body to civilisation in hopes of a bittersweet reunion between Gav and his friend Nigel, the gamer realised that riding into town with a dead body flopping around on your horse isn't exactly considered cricket, and they swiftly attracted the attention of the local constabulary.

If you'd like to find this "Gavin" for yourself, DontTurnAround1 shows where they found the body, though it's probably worth pointing out that... in all likelihood, this is not Gavin. Indeed, there is no Gavin.

Many have hunted high and low for the NPC, with dedicated sleuths digging through the game code to find even the smallest hint of what might have happened to him. Sadly, there is no mention of Gavin anywhere outside of Nigel's dialogue. No body, no mission, no mystery. Nada.

Who knows though, perhaps this was meant to be Gavin and Rockstar simply forgot about him? It wouldn't be the first time they've left an open-ended question in one of their games. Personally, I like to think the real Gavin was the friends we made along the way.
