Who's ready for a good news/bad news situation? The good news is that Capcom has promised the hotly-anticipated Resident Evil 3 remake absolutely won't be delayed and will make its previously announced April 3rd release date. The bad news is... no, wait, there is no bad news this time. Sorry, that's just the way 2020 has been going so far.
In a recent interview with Famitsu, Capcom Producers Peter Fabiano and Masao Kawada assured fans that the remake's development is roughly 90% complete already, meaning Resident Evil 3 will absolutely be out when we expect it. You know, unless a massive zombie outbreak occurs and threatens to destabilise the entire world. It could happen. Don't roll your eyes at me, it COULD. I've read the science. On Reddit.
The news that Resident Evil 3 is on track for its intended release date is bound to be reassuring to fans everywhere. After all, the Resident Evil 2 remake was first announced in August 2015, and didn't release until January 2019. What a long, painful wait that was for all of us.

The re-imagined survival horror ended up being well worth the wait, of course. Resident Evil 2 was an instant critical and commercial hit that just recently actually managed to outsell the 1998 original, which is a truly incredible achievement. It also earned a place on many Game Of The Year lists, including our own.
While the news is undeniably welcome, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that we're in for less of a wait for Resident Evil 3. The impending sequel is being developed in the same engine as its predecessor, and work had already started on Resi 3 as soon as Resi 2 was released.
So just what can we expect from Resident Evil 3? As was the case in the original game, we'll be playing as Jill Valentine as she desperately attempts to escape Raccoon City in the throws of the zombie outbreak we witness in Resi 2. However, according to Capcom, the upcoming remake will deviate from the 1999 original in a number of surprising ways.

In fact, the Resi 3 remake will be more of a departure than Resi 2 was from its 1998 original. Capcom won't reveal everything that's been altered yet as they don't want to spoil too much, but expect some key changes to the story, a more fleshed out supporting cast, and a leaner, meaner Nemesis to give us fresh nightmares.
