Marvel owes a lot to the comic book writer

The Marvel universe owes a lot to Stan Lee. The writer was the mind behind several of the most famous superheroes we know and love today, and Marvel has taken to honouring Stan Lee whenever they can. You'll have seen his cameos in Marvel's cinematic universe, but have you seen Stan Lee in the brand new Spider-Man: Miles Morales?

Sadly, Lee passed away two years ago, so of course, this cameo isn't his usual one-liners you see in the films. Instead, it's a touching tribute to the writer in the form of a statue that Miles can interact with. If you travel to the Upper West Side of the New York map and interact with the statue by Mick's Diner, Miles will express how amazing Lee's life and work was. The Spider-Man says "Real-life hero right here", short, sweet and a sentiment many would echo.

The base of the statue reads "Dedicated with love to the man who nourished the hearts, minds, and souls of True Believers everywhere. Excelsior!" After interacting with the statue of Stan Lee, you'll get the Bronze Trophy Best Fries in Town to say that you've visited the writer in-game.

The game also pays tribute to another iconic face of the Marvel universe, Chadwick Boseman who passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer. The Black Panther actor was only 43. Insomniac also paid tribute to him with a screen which reads, "In loving memory of a Noble King, Chadwick Boseman. His Honor, Strength, and Compassion will reverberate for generations to come. Wakanda Forever."

Both of these tributes are terribly sad for obvious reasons, but they're also reminders of the incredible work both men did in inspiring people to be the hero they want to see in the world. We're glad to see them commemorated in-game.
