Yogscast's annual Jingle Jam event is upon us once again, and the month-long charity bonanza is already off to an incredible start. Over $1 million was raised in the first 24 hours of the festive jam, and it's showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. According to a press release, $250,000 was raised in the first eight minutes of the event going live.

How, exactly, does such a warm-hearted endeavor work? If you're unfamiliar with the ways of the Jingle Jam, pretty much everyone is a winner. You can pick up the Jingle Jam Humble Bundle, and 100 percent of your money goes to charity.

According to a press release, the latest bundle contains around $700 worth of DLC and gaming content. You can own it all for a minimum charitable donation of $30.

Among the various organisations being supported this year are the Call of Duty Endowment, Stand Up to Cancer, the Mental Health Foundation, Special Effect and War Child UK.

So, you can support multiple good causes, and you get yourself some games on the cheap? Only the coldest heart could find fault with that. In addition to the Humble Bundle, the Yogscast team are also streaming live all throughout December. For 12 hours a day, they'll be playing some great games, and encouraging folk to get involved, have a chat, and maybe donate a few quid.

Since the Jingle Jam initiative first launched launched back in 2011, an astounding $15 million has been raised for various great causes. Last year alone, around 90,000 people donated close to $3.3 million.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year, when we turn our focus to raising an incredible sum of money for some amazing charities," said Yogscast co-founder Lewis Brindley.

"The games industry lends its support and provides amazing games, DLC and stuff for the bundle - and gamers dig deep and donate. We want 2019 to be bigger than ever - and to do this we need you to help spread the word. The more people that hear about Jingle Jam - the more we can raise."

"The Jingle Jam brings to life all the best parts of the gaming community on Twitch and that is why we are once again delighted to support the charity drive efforts from Yogscast," added Twitch's Director of Partnerships, Pontus Eskilsson.

"Each December, the global community comes together to enjoy unique, never to be repeated live content and give back to the world around them. We know this year will be the best yet."
