God Of War Ragnarok age rating confirms an even darker sequel

The final countdown for God Of War Ragnarök is on, my friends. Santa Monica Studio’s highly-anticipated sequel finally lands on 9 November and just yesterday, insiders teased the game’s length. All in all, God Of War Ragnarök is shaping up to be slightly longer than its predecessor coming in at around 40 hours.

At Sony’s last State Of Play, we were treated to a brand new trailer and boy, is there a lot to unpack. From Kratos’ team-up with Tyr to a space fight with several Valkyries, God Of War Ragnarök is clearly going to take us on a wild ride - and the game’s age rating proves it’s also set to be a darker outing.

As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, the ESRB have rated God Of War Ragnarök a Mature 17+ for its “blood and gore, intense violence, [and] strong language.” Yeah, that sure sounds like it could be God Of War Ragnarök. If you’re looking for slightly more detail, ESRB explained exactly what the game entails.

They wrote, “This is an action-adventure game in which players help Kratos and his son on a dangerous quest. Players explore various realms and engage in frenetic hand-to-hand combat against human-like raiders and fantastical creatures (e.g., centaurs, trolls, dragons). Players use axes and chained blades to battle enemies, often resulting in large blood-splatter effects and dismemberment. Players can perform finishing attacks that depict close-up impalement via bladed and hand-held weapons; repeated axe strikes to a creature’s neck results in decapitation. The words ‘f**k’ and ‘sh*t’ are heard in the game.”

The combat description sounds remarkably similar to 2018’s God of War. Do you know what I’m excited for though? The part where Kratos says, ‘F**k this s**t boy.’
