God Of War Ragnarök named best PS5 game so far in PlayStation poll

God Of War Ragnarök named best PS5 game so far in PlayStation poll

Can I axe you a question?

God of War Ragnarök has been named the best game on the PlayStation 5 to date for its emotional and gripping story, unforgettable fights and incredible characters.

This tenure might be short-lived. Previewing Final Fantasy XVI, our video editor James Daly couldn't recommend it enough to us. "The gameplay is gripping, with compelling combat. The world is visually amazing. The characters feel real. While there’s still months to go before release, I’m convinced Final Fantasy XVI is a game no PS5 user will want to miss," explained James.

Seeing that it's debatable over whether we've gotten a game that properly pushes the console to its limits yet, this is certainly interesting when we think about the fact that we're two years into the PS5's lifespan. The Players’ Choice: Best of PS5, a collection of polls that PlayStation holds to discern the preferences of its community, also offered an insight into the games that have knocked their socks off and the ones that have shrunk out of the spotlight.

God of War only gets better when you swap Kratos, Atreus and Baldr out for Homer, Bart and Ned Flanders:

For the title of best PS5 game, among the honorable mentions were Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. However, God of War Ragnarök is "unmissable" according to the players and the sales prove this too. In early February, it was announced that the game had sold over 11 million copies since its November launch, which is immensely impressive because the game is only purchasable on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

What's more is that it bounded past The Last of Us Part II's record for being the fastest selling first-party game ever for Sony and scored the highest number of nominations for a game at The Game Awards in 2022. It's only a matter of time, I imagine, til it arrives on PC and stuns a whole lot of players there too.
