Harry Potter anime concept is genuinely adorable

Harry Potter anime concept is genuinely adorable

We'll take this over the live-action reboot any day.

Earlier this year, it was announced that a Harry Potter TV reboot is in development for Max (formerly HBO Max), which will run for an entire decade.

Even though it’ll be telling the same story that Harry Potter fans already know well, the show will feature an all-new cast, because it’d obviously be very weird to hire a 33-year-old Daniel Radcliffe to play an 11-year-old Hogwarts student again. While it makes sense to recast, it’s still been pretty contentious, and you can’t help but wonder what the point is of revisiting the same plot in a live-action format… again.

Take a look at the teaser trailer for the Harry Potter TV reboot below.

Clearly, some fans have been imagining what it might look like if we got a rebooted Harry Potter anime series, instead. As Screen Rant reports, YouTube channel AI Generated Art has compiled a number of AI-generated images of different Wizarding World characters reimagined in an anime art style. From Harry himself to Ron, Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape, there’s no doubt that a Wizarding World anime series would have the potential to be a huge hit. Thinking about it, it’s kind of shocking that it hasn’t happened already.

Back to the real rebooted series though, and numerous people have already expressed that they’ll be boycotting it due to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s involvement as executive producer. Rowling continues to face criticism for making harmful comments about the trans community - many boycotted Hogwarts Legacy for the same reason.

HBO chief Casey Bloys previously avoided directly addressing the Rowling controversy when asked if he thought that the producers could struggle to cast the series as a result of it. Instead, he said: “Our priority is what’s on the screen. Obviously, the Harry Potter story is incredibly affirmative and positive and about love and self-acceptance. That’s our priority - what’s on screen.”

The Harry Potter TV series doesn’t currently have a scheduled release window - fans will just have to be patient for now.
