The Wizarding World is a magical place full of wonder and devoted fans of the franchise cannot get enough of the secrets that are contained within the halls of Hogwarts and beyond.
At the heart of the franchise, is the boy named Harry Potter. Well, he’s actually a man now, but you get my point. Harry Potter was the chosen one if you will. The hero of the story and the one, with the help of his friends Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Professor Albus Dumbledore, Rubeus Hagrid and more, together, would put an end to the sinister Voldemort and his fanatical Death Eaters.

Prior to Harry Potter knowing who he truly was and what fate had in store for him, he had a brush with death with Voldemort aka the Dark Lord as an infant. Despite his best efforts, Voldemort was unable to end Harry Potter with the Avada Kevadra spell. I won’t go into more details about this encounter, to avoid spoilers.

However, as a result of that brush with death, Harry Potter earned himself a scar on his forehead in the shape of a lightning bolt, acting as a reminder of his apparent date with death. Up until recently, it was assumed that this scar was in fact some kind of lighting bolt symbol, but apparently, we may be wrong on that assumption.
As discussed by fans on Reddit, it is believed that the scar on Harry Potter’s forehead isn't a lightning bolt (even though it looks like one), but instead resembles the hand movement required to cast the Avada Kevadra spell.

Honestly, after watching the movies countless times, I’ve never spotted this subtle detail. For added reference, the symbol that resembles the hand movements are shown on a Harry Potter Wiki page with an image of the motion also shared in the Reddit post.
So there you have it. If you haven't learned something new today, I at least may have. Granted, this hasn't been officially confirmed by the creators of the franchise as far as we’re aware, but by the looks of things, this appears to be more than just a coincidental resemblance or is it a baseless fan-theory?
