Lev actor hopes to reprise role in The Last of Us' second season

Lev, played by actor Ian Alexander, was easily one The Last of Us Part II's most cherished characters. As a Seraphite who is set to be married to an elder, he shaves his head in defiance and confirms his identity as a male, though doing so causes the community to exile him and his sister Yara who supported him.

They then encounter Abby, someone who should be a mortal enemy, though the three establish a protective bond in spite of their warring factions' histories. In a lot of ways, Abby and Lev are mirrors of Joel and Ellie, making the denouement of The Last of Us Part II to be all the more devastating.

With HBO's The Last of Us confirmed for a second season, fans are already theorising who could come back to reprise their roles in the storyline for the small screen. Alexander has stated he "would love" to play Lev again even though some years have passed between the game and the expected release of the show.

"I was just so grateful that I was able to be a part of that franchise and I'm so excited that we got picked up for season two," Alexander said to Insider. "My fingers are crossed that I get to reprise my role as Lev."

Though these themes are very obvious in the game, there has been a significant level of vitriol for the show's inclusion of LGBTQIA+ characters and storylines. 'Long, Long Time,' the episode that retold Bill and Frank's romance in a much more wholesome and positive way, was review bombed and this echoed the response to Abby and Lev in Part II from pinheads who couldn't cope with gender diversity in a fictional apocalyptic America.

"It was really heartbreaking because in the original game, there was queer representation. There was Bill and Frank. I'm glad that they're making the LGBTQ representation more explicit and more just... obviously queer. I'd love to see more of that," added Alexander. Well, we'll have our fingers crossed for you.
