Whether he’s a hero on the silver screen or a hero in real life, it makes no difference to Samuel L. Jackson.
The legendary Samuel L. Jackson plays the former director of S.H.I.E.LD Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is not content by simply defending the everyday citizen. He has also leapt to the defence of his The Marvels co-star Brie Larson though, to be fair, I think Captain Marvel can more than hold her own. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you'll likely know that Brie Larson isn't exactly the most popular celebrity in certain toxic corners of the internet.
Nick Fury can currently be seen in Secret Invasion which premieres today.
Larson originally came under fire from haters for comments made regarding members of the press who she noted were often "overwhelmingly white males," adding that she wanted to “make sure press days were more inclusive.” And there’s nothing wrong with that.

To this day, media relating to Larson is often met with a consistent barrage of disdain. She's not afraid to speak her mind, nor is Samuel L. Jackson who starred alongside Larson in Kong: Skull Island, Captain Marvel, and the upcoming The Marvels.
As reported by Variety, Jackson has defended Larson from what he refers to as "incel dudes who hate strong women". He explained how the duo initially bonded over their sadness at the election of former President Trump. Jackson recalled, “She was broken and I was like, ‘Don’t let ‘em break you. You have to be strong now.’ Then, when she got Captain Marvel, she called me and was like, ‘They want me in the Marvel Universe. Should I do it?’ And I was like, ‘Hell yeah! Let’s do it.'”
Jackson then went on to address the certain corners of the internet that relentlessly throw hate towards the actress. “She’s not going to let any of that stuff destroy her,” said Nick Fury, sorry, Samuel L. Jackson. “These incel dudes who hate strong women, or the fact that she’s a feminist who has an opinion and expressed it? Everybody wants people to be who they want them to be. She is who she is, and she’s genuinely that.”
As for what the future holds for the two Marvel stars, today, Samuel L. Jackson’s six-part Secret Invasion series has launched on Disney+. For Brie Larson, The Marvels releases in cinemas this year on 10 November.
