Marvel's Avengers: Twilight officially announced

Marvel's Avengers: Twilight officially announced

An Avengers event is coming

Avengers news has come out of New York Comic Con, with Marvel Comics revealing a new event mini-series with writing by Chip Zdarsky and art by Daniel Acuña.

Avengers: Twilight will show off a new future in the Marvel universe and the trailer from NYCC goes some way to show what we can expect. The firt issue is due 16 January 2024 and will show an older Captain America living in an America that doesn't want the Avengers.

We have to wonder what the MCU has in store for The Avengers too

Avengers: Twilight is described as "In a gleaming new world of prosperity, Captain America is no more. But Steve Rogers still exists, floating through an America where freedom is an illusion, where THE AVENGERS are strangers and his friends are long dead."

A tagline for the mini-series seems to be "How do you assemble Avengers in a world that doesn't want them?" What fate does Zdarsky have for Marvel's greatest superheroes? From what we see in the trailer, Iron Man has died, as have other Avengers, so if a team is put together, who makes the cut?

We get small appearance from Kamala Khan and Luke Cage, so we may see them step up to the team and take a place next to Steve Rogers. This is a very different universe to what we already see as it looks like, at some point, Steve became 'Senator Rogers' and took a place within the American government. Why did he do so? And did he leave his service on his own terms?

Chip Zdarsky is an award winning writer who has penned some of Marvel's biggest stories and has seen success with Image Comics also. While Daniel Acuña has previously worked on several X-Men titles, as well as Thor, Captain America and Iron Man. So it looks like the comic book series is in good hands.
