It’s finally here, the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake, after months of rumours, speculation, and teases, the beloved stealth title was finally announced last night during the PlayStation Showcase.
After a short CGI trailer of a gloomy and treacherous jungle, full of dangerous creatures, the infamous Big Boss himself, Naked Snake, emerges from the shadows, driving fans absolutely wild with excitement and anticipation.
Not only that, it was also announced that the OG Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, will all return as part of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection this Fall.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, holds a special place in the hearts of fans, with many still praising the game for its story, visuals, gameplay and crazy boss fights, all of which hold up even by today’s standards. Fans will be even more excited to learn that the original voice cast will be reprising their roles in the remake, which means the legendary David Hayter will be putting on the bandana and eye patch once again, following a long hiatus from the character.

Hayter last played Snake in the spin-off title, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and the fourth entry in the main series, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots prior to that. He was then replaced for Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, and its prologue Ground Zeroes, which saw the role of Snake go to Kiefer Sutherland, a decision that many fans disagreed with.
It’s unclear if new voice lines will be recorded for the remake, or if it’ll simply include cleaned-up audio recordings from the original game, but given how it’s a remake not a remaster, it’s likely we’ll get brand new dialogue.
The remake for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, hasn’t been given a release date yet, but it has been confirmed the game will be launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, likely sometime next year.
