Metal Gear Solid Legacy teaser brings back David Hayter's Solid Snake

Metal Gear Solid Legacy teaser brings back David Hayter's Solid Snake

The legendary voice of Solid Snake, David Hayter is back in Metal Gear Solid.

The Metal Gear Solid series is not only one of Konami’s crown jewel properties but it is widely considered to be one of the greatest franchises of all time.

From the creative mind of legendary developer Hideo Kojima, this iconic series began with Metal Gear on the NES in 1987. In the next few years that followed, the NES would get two further sequels.

However, it wasn't until 1998 when Metal Gear Solid arrived on the original PlayStation console. To say that this title changed the game would be an understatement with wonderfully crafted stealth mechanics, tight combat, enemy AI that was far ahead of its time, a well-written story, fantastic voice cast offering a cinematic experience that many Hollywood big-hitters would be jealous of.

In the decades that followed we would be treated to many releases in the Metal Gear Solid series and for the most part, each being more impressive than the last. Well, apart from 2018’s Metal Gear Survive. Let’s just say, the less said about that game, the better. Sadly, Metal Gear Survive was the last entry in the series, but at least we have the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 on the way to hopefully eradicate those painful memories.

More recently the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 graced consoles and PC, which not only included the first three games in the MGS series, but also the NES classics that came before as well as a whole host of other bonus features. Granted, the ports in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 should have been taken to a higher standard with more modernised features and performance, but there’s little denying that each game still holds up well today.

As the name of the first entry of the Master Collection clearly suggests, Konami has plans to release further collections with the expectancy of 2008’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots being included in Vol.2, a game that at this point in time has only ever been released on the PlayStation 3.

Konami hasn't outright confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 will include MGS4, but I am a firm believer in there being no smoke without fire. Yet, it seems that the confirmation of Vol.2 has been solidified by none other than the voice of Snake (not Kiefer Sutherland), David Hayter. In a teaser trailer titled ‘Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series’ the aforementioned voice of Snake is brought back and concludes the trailer by saying “This is only the beginning.”

Hopefully, in the coming months, Konami will reveal all the juicy details including the release date of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2. The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
