Modern Warfare 2 getting massive Day One update

Happy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II eve to all who celebrate. Tomorrow, Infinity Ward’s latest title is officially released into the world, although I’m guessing many of you have already gotten your hands on the title via digital pre-order early access. If you have, perhaps you’re one of the fans hailing the new campaign as “incredible.”

Players are particularly blown away by one campaign level which takes the word photorealistic to new heights. Yes, I’m talking about the Amsterdam level. I’m guessing a few of you, like me, will have scrollen past footage from this level on social media mistaking it for real life footage of Amsterdam. That’s how good it is. There’s more goodness on the way though. Modern Warfare II is getting a huge ‘day one’ update.

As reported by DSOGaming, Infinity Ward and Beenox have just released MWII’s PC day one update and it’s coming in at around 55GB in size. Patch notes are yet to be released so we don’t know exactly what this update will entail but Activision did recently blog about some changes that are coming to the game’s multiplayer mode so it’s not a stretch to imagine that the patch will address some of these planned changes.

Diamond icons are being introduced to improve enemy visibility, plus footstep audio range has been reduced improving stealth play. The new third-person mode has also been overhauled so that aiming down sights will now stay in third-person. Previously, the mode switched between third and first-person which admittedly, wasn’t the kindest on the eyes.

Weapons have also been tuned, UI has been updated, movement has been refined plus matchmaking has been tweaked to reduce lobby disbandment. Like I say, it’s all a little bit vague for now but we should get full patch notes when the update officially drops on launch day tomorrow.
