Need For Speed Most Wanted Unreal Engine 5 remake looks damn-near photorealistic

Back in the early to mid-2000s it was a time that the street racing genre was at its peak largely due to the Need for Speed series published by Electronic Arts.

The Need for Speed series has been around for decades with its first entry arriving in 1994 for the original PlayStation, SEGA Saturn as well as the long-forgotten Panasonic 3DO. With each release, the series improved over its last and it wasn't until 2003 with the release of Need for Speed: Underground that the Electronic Arts series was at its best.

Following the release of Need for Speed: Underground 2 in 2004, fans were eventually treated to Need for Speed: Most Wanted in 2005. To be honest, you could ask any Need for Speed fan which is the better between Underground 2 and Most Wanted, and most will likely give you an equally valid preference.

However, for today’s topic of discussion at least, it’s all about Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) and while Electronic Arts seems to be no closer to giving us an official remake, this beatiful Unreal Engine 5 fan-made remake looks damn-near photorealistic.

The womderful Need for Speed: Most Wanted remake was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘NostalgiaNexus’ and this is from the same indie developer that had created the glorious Unreal Engine 5 remake in September 2023.

The latest Need for Speed: Most Wanted remake has been powered by the stunning The Matrix Awakens tech demo that was initially released in 2021. DSOGaming explains that NostalgiaNexus had exported the BMW M3 GTR from a previous demo into the gorgeous city that featured in The Matrix Awakens, and the results are sublime, to say the least.

It’s worth mentioning that none of the demos created by NostalgiaNexus have been released to the public due to the likely threat of big-shot lawyers. That being said, if nothing else, this stunning fan-made Need for Speed: Most Wanted remake powered by Unreal Engine 5 gives us a taste of what could be. So what are you waiting for Electronic Arts, get on it like a car bonnet!
