Need For Speed: Most Wanted gets gorgeous Unreal Engine 5 remake

Need For Speed: Most Wanted gets gorgeous Unreal Engine 5 remake

We want this Need for Speed remake now!

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) is one of the most popular entries in the EA series and fans are always looking for new ways to enjoy this beloved classic street racer.

One such way that fans are finding new ways to enjoy old-school Need for Speed games is courtesy of fan remakes. Sure, we have had a remaster from EA, namely with Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit in 2020. Yet, with so many entries in the Need for Speed back catalogue, it seems that EA is missing a trick by seemingly ignoring the Underground and Most Wanted games.

Check out the original Need for Speed: Most Wanted trailer below!

In recent months we have seen some fantastic fan remakes and remasters, most of which have been inspired by Underground 2, but now a fan has remade Most Wanted using Unreal Engine 5 and it looks gorgeous. The latest fan remake is courtesy of the YouTube channel ‘NostalgiaNexus’.

The Need for Speed: Most Wanted remake is not only powered by Unreal Engine 5 but also uses the Chaos Vehicle System and FMOD for engine sounds, according to the description of the video.

Sure you can tell that this isn't a AAA remake, but the car model looks awesome, the world looks good, and perhaps above all else, it looks like it handles really well and it sounds fantastic too. It must also be stated that this playable demo will not be made public, to avoid menacing letters from EA lawyers to the indie developer.

In all honesty, watching the above gameplay above, just makes me wish that Electronic Arts will give us at the very least, remasters of other classic Need for Speed entries.

Thankfully, however, there does appear to be a small glimmer of hope, at least. Back in July 2023, a voice actor that worked on Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) may have accidentally revealed that an official remake is on the way. Obviously until proven otherwise, we should take that speculation with a pinch of salt.

As for the immediate future, Need for Speed Unbound is out now for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. What’s more, it is also available via the EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription services.
