New Elder Scrolls game officially announced, coming this year

New Elder Scrolls game officially announced, coming this year

Bethesda has announced a brand new Elder Scrolls game, landing this year.

The Elder Scrolls VI is several years away from release, much to the dismay of fans. That being said, another Elder Scrolls game is on the way that could satisfy our cravings in the meantime.

Bethesda has admitted that it perhaps announced The Elder Scrolls VI a tad too early. While Starfield may be out in the world, it remains a key focus for the studio. Just this week, devs teased the imminent release of the game’s most comprehensive update to date. We also know several fan-requested features should be landing in-game this year, including city maps, plus there’s the previously announced Shattered Space expansion, which we know very little about. Eventually, the focus will shift over to The Elder Scrolls VI but not for quite some time. We do now know that The Elder Scrolls: Castles is coming though.

ICYMI: Take a look at some of our favourite Starfield wins and fails.

The Elder Scrolls: Castles is an upcoming mobile release so no, it’s not a sprawling open-world RPG but it does come from the same team that made the excellent Fallout Shelter (an underrated game, if you ask me). Announcing the news, Bethesda wrote, “We’re excited to finally share The Elder Scrolls: Castles, our new mobile game from the team behind Fallout Shelter. The team has been hard at work on it for the last few years and we absolutely adore it.”

The synopsis reads, “Build your own dynasty where every day in our world is a year in the game's world. Citizens are born, they die, rulers change, and can be betrayed.” For now, The Elder Scrolls: Castles is only available in the Philippines as it soft launches, but worry not my friends.

The game is due to launch in additional countries in “the coming months'', so you should have a much shorter wait for this than The Elder Scrolls VI. You can pre-register your interest now if you want to be one of the first to get involved.
