New Fable teaser released ahead of Xbox showcase

New Fable teaser released ahead of Xbox showcase

Fans are convinced that we'll be getting news about the new Fable game during the Xbox Games Showcase, thanks to an intriguing teaser.

Whenever we approach a new video game announcement showcase, it’s always a very good idea to hype responsibly. The discussions and predictions that take place online prior to any event like this can be a lot of fun, but they’re also very good at giving everyone the idea that every game they’ve ever dreamed off will be shown off over the course of a single livestream, and that almost always leads to disappointment.

With that in mind, please try not to explode when you look at Xbox’s latest teaser for its upcoming Games Showcase on 11 June. As Game Rant reports, a short video posted to Twitter has got everyone convinced that we could finally be seeing a new trailer or potentially even a gameplay reveal for Fable, which was first announced in 2020.

Take a look at the announcement trailer for Fable right here.

Now, take a look at this and tell me that it doesn’t scream ‘Fable’. The background music is so similar to the Bowerstone music from the original game, and the person filming literally follows a trail of glitter to their PC, much like how in the older games in the series, players follow glitter to their next objectives. Coincidence? Maybe. But Xbox surely knows what it’s doing with this teaser, and we can only hope that we’ll actually be shown something related to it in the Showcase.

We’ve heard very little about the Fable reboot since its original reveal, but for those unfamiliar, it’ll be developed by Playground Games, which is best known for its work on the Forza Horizon series. While many fans have been concerned about whether the developer is the right one for the job, head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty, previously reassured gamers that Playground Games “had a particular passion for the IP” and “understand what the heart and soul of Fable is about”. With that said, he also revealed that the reboot will be a “modern take” on the series.

There’s not too long to wait for the showcase, anyway, so we’ll soon find out if the teaser actually means anything or not. On a side note, seeing so much glitter poured out inside someone’s house and all over their Xbox controller genuinely hurts to look at.
