Hello Games’ 2016 adventure-survival game has been on a serious journey since its fateful release, and is perhaps the best example of how fantastic a game can be if its devs refuse to give up on it. Despite the fact that the whole point of the game was to allow players to explore and discover an endless amount of planets, many initially criticised the title for feeling disappointingly empty. Plus, it was missing multiplayer at launch, which no one was happy about.

However, in the years since its release, Hello Games have transformed No Man’s Sky into something even better than the game people thought it was going to be prior to its original launch. As IGN reports, the Interceptor update is out now, and it’s brought with it a new threat of cosmic proportions - corrupted worlds.

“Many worlds have succumbed to corruption, with strange crystals sprouting from the earth, and Sentinel guardians twisted into bizarre new forms,” the synopsis reads (via IGN). “Explore these purple-hazed worlds to find new buildings, crashed interceptors, secret equipment and more.”
On the corrupted planets, players will be able to encounter huge, warped, arachnid-like Sentinels equipped with flamethrowers and explosives, which sounds slightly terrifying, to be honest. Obviously though, there’s some great stuff to find on these planets that won’t try to kill you. If you explore enough, you’ll be able to uncover plans for customisable Sentinel jetpacks, you can also harvest the ‘anomalous crystals’ on corrupted planets, and salvage new resources from defeating Sentinels.
