‘Among Us’ Fan Concept Introduces An Interesting Third Imposter Role

For all those times that people have accidentally helped the Imposters win.

Among Us has got everyone in a frenzy. The 2018 game has had a surge of interest from people during the lockdown, as it's a simple deception game to play with up to nine others. Everyone and their mum is playing the game at the moment, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

One of the problems the game has, however, is that many players get so into the title that working out who is an Imposter and who is a Crewmate, can get pretty easy after a little while. Another layer to Among Us is that some crewmates get caught up while defending friends that they accidentally become what is known as a 'third Imposter' - a person who doesn't even realise they're helping the Imposters win the game.

These two factors have combined in a fan concept for a third role - the Jester. The Jester, according to the Reddit poster GrieferGamer, would be in charge of making players think they're an imposter, but without the same violent tendencies, the real Imposters have. We assume the aim for the Jester is to get kicked out of the ship to win the game.

This could create all sorts of interesting plays - a character who keeps running away from the others may have real Crewmates chasing them trying to discover if they're being suspicious deliberately. As the Jester you're particularly scared of Imposters, as getting killed means that you can't win - so disappearing from a group is also a major risk.

There are major updates coming to the game, perhaps some additional roles are among them. Originally the developers at InnerSloth were going to create a sequel, Among Us 2, but they cancelled it recognising the success of the original should be built on. So, no Among Us 2, but big updates to the original. The next updates make some changes to the taskbar, the wires task, and more.
