Annapurna Interactive's forthcoming title 12 Minutes - which was first revealed in 2015 before being reworked and represented to the public at Xbox's E3 event of 2019 - has just received a brand-new trailer as part of Gamescom Opening Night. And it really nails home that this is a game that fans of intense interactive drama need to keep their eyes on.

Developed by Luis Antonio, 12 Minutes sees players revisit the 'same' 12-minute period from a top-down perspective, using each session to pick away at a mystery underpinning the tragedy that's just happened. It's... It's hard to explain, but when you play it (as we have), it makes sense. Time loops! So in fashion, right now.

Check out the trailer below - and stay to the end for the cast reveal. Or, read on, obviously.

There's a small cast in 12 Minutes. So far as we know, there's just three characters: a married couple, and a police officer. The officer comes to the couple's apartment - the game's setting - and claims that the wife was responsible for the death of his father. He tries to arrest her, but things go very, very wrong. And that's where the player comes in, to see how it could have gone... differently.

But, oh my, haven't the team behind 12 Minutes gone and got themselves some names for their game. Playing the three roles outlined above will be James McAvoy (X-Men, His Dark Materials, Atomic Blonde), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars, Peter Rabbit), and Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse, Spider-Man, loads of stuff). Now if that's not some quality for a video game, I don't know what is.

12 Minutes is yet to receive a release date, but when it does it'll be coming to PC and Xbox One. Annapurna Interactive is always a publisher to watch for, with games like Outer Wilds, Telling Lies and Sayonara Wild Hearts in their portfolio - so their reputation plus this cast makes 12 Minutes likely to be unmissable.
